Self-Driving Mail Delivery Robot

Japan Post launches a self-driving mail delivery robot during the new corona pandemic. According to foreign media CNET, Japanese robots can add mail delivery functions to their "resumes." Japan Post launched a self-driving mail delivery robot in Tokyo on Wednesday as a solution to minimize human contact during the new corona pandemic. This cute red DeliRo robot is equipped with a built-in camera and sensor, so it can avoid obstacles such as telephone poles. It can also cross busy intersections by reading traffic lights. This postal robot developed by ZMP can carry packages weighing up to 30 kilograms and can travel at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour. According to the "Japan Times" report, Japan Post hopes to put self-driving delivery robots into regular use in 2021. Japan Post is conducting a series of delivery tests on its mail robots. These tests will start on September 18 and will continue until the end of October. Based on these test results, the Japanese government may want to relax the current regulations on autonomous delivery robots, which currently stipulate that autonomous delivery robots cannot use sidewalks or public roads without a human.
