Due to the rapid technological development and product iteration, most electronic products will become cheaper and cheaper over time. For example, the large-screen TV that used to cost tens of thousands of dollars can now be easily taken home with only a few thousand dollars. However, in the field of smartphones, although Apple's iPhone has a higher price, its value retention rate has always been talked about. Even if the price of the new flagship products launched by competitors during the same period is comparable, the value retention rate is significantly behind the iPhone (such as Samsung's Galaxy series).

Mobile phone retailer SellCell recently released data showing that despite the higher price of Apple’s iPhone, its value retention rate is better than an Android flagship competitor. Taking the iPhone XR as an example, from 2018 to 2020, its value has only lost 53.2%. The depreciation rates of iPhone XS / XS Max are 56% and 56.8%. In comparison, the LG V40 ThinQ/Samsung Galaxy Note 9 depreciation rates during the same period were 79.10% and 79.20%, respectively, and the Samsung Galaxy S9 series/Sony Xperia X22 series depreciated more than 80%. Google Pixel 3/3 XL, which is relatively stable in the Android camp, has depreciation rates of 72.40% and 75.6%.
